Start Your Perfect Follow Up System

How To, Procrastination, Save Time With Systems, Systemize, Tips

Creating a follow up system that works for you is as important as any system in your business. There are many ways to create a system but you need to find the one that will work for you (and that you will actually use.)

What works for you depends on many factors and it also takes trial and error.  You will probably need to try a few different ways especially if you prefer to do things one way or another, as we all do.

The first step is to start something NOW.  Don’t wait for that program that you heard about or the app you haven’t downloaded.  Think about the systems for follow ups that you have used.  Have you had any that you liked or worked pretty well.  Try those out again.  If not then start with something small like a pen and paper or putting tasks in your calendar.

Secondly, write down your process or if you have a program, it is most likely setup for you.  The point is to know what you do through every step of the process.  Now practice, use your paper or calendar and write out the steps or if you have a program go ahead and enter a friend or your mom in and test it from start to finish.  You want to see if there are things to tweak before you start this with a real prospect.

Thirdly, don’t worry about it!  Start fresh today!  Did you meet someone a month ago and you really planned on connecting and you misplaced their info and completely forgot?  Send the email anyway.  Or if you feel too bad about it reach out on social by following and liking their business.  Think about it did they reach out to you?  Most likely because they do not have a follow up system.

We have all of the resources anyone could need to keep up with our to do list, our schedule, projects, kids, family, pets, groups, etc… I could go on and on.  And you know that there is a lack of follow up.  Maybe it is procrastinating or laziness or lack of interest.  I see it all the time, people meet each other exchange information and no one ever reaches out. Why spend time going to all the trouble to meet people (or get their info) and never follow up?
