Small business owners know they need a website and once it’s set up they leave it alone to never touch it again. That’s not helping your business. Your website isn’t one and done.
Why do I have to keep adding to my website?
When you first build your website and add all of the information and pages, the search engines crawl your website and look at all of the words and content. That information is then put in their database for people to search and see results.
And then the search engines don’t come back very often unless you change or add something. When you add a new post it causes the search engine to notice and come back to crawl the new page and then you are put in the search results higher this time.
Search engines love new content, relevant content for what people are searching for, websites that are fast, and that many people visit often and stay on for a while.
So adding to your website with relevant content to explain what you do that answers customers (and Internet searches) questions regularly will only help you be found easier and faster.
It doesn’t have to be hard. You probably spend more time thinking about it than you would if you just did it.
But isn’t my social media enough to point people to my website?
Social media is good to have and, yes, you should be active on the platforms your customers use but you want to keep your website up to date to match your social media.
And guess what all the things you post on your social media, you can post on your website and vice versa.
And the same thing applies to your newsletter. Reuse your content in all the places you need to add value and help customers.
What about my newsletter, wouldn’t that help too?
Yes, a newsletter is great to have but it’s only going to those people on your list, and if you’re lucky 18% of those people open your emails.
Not even the most loyal customer is reading all of your newsletters, social media posts, and blogs so it’s simple to repeat the messages and spread them to all of your marketing channels.
